TOMS RIVER, NJ – The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for inland areas of Ocean County, New Jersey on Sunday, April 30, 2023. The alert warns that minor coastal flooding is possible in the region, with several instances of flooding likely to occur, particularly in urban and poor-drainage areas and near vulnerable small creeks and streams.

Residents are encouraged to visit the website weather.gov/phi/ehwo to stay updated on potential weather hazards in the region.

The National Weather Service also issued a coastal flood advisory for Ocean County, New Jersey, which remains in effect until 10:00 PM EDT on Sunday, April 30, 2023. The advisory warns of up to one half foot of inundation above ground level in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways, particularly in Barnegat Bay.

At this level, flooding begins on the most vulnerable roads in bayside communities and along inland tidal waterways. Some partial or full road closures are possible, and residents are advised to take necessary precautions to protect their flood-prone property.

The probability for widespread hazardous weather is low from Monday, May 1, 2023, through Saturday, May 6, 2023. Weather spotters are encouraged to report significant weather conditions in accordance with standard operating procedures.
