Chicago businesses warned after smash and grab burglaries near Palmer Square

CHICAGO, IL – Multiple businesses were targeted last night in smash and grab style robberies in the area of Palmer Square.

Business owners in Chicago’s 014th District are being urged to remain vigilant following a spate of overnight burglaries.

The Chicago Police Department reported a male offender has been breaking into businesses by smashing front or side windows with rocks, bricks, or crowbars.

The offender then steals cash from registers, safes, and liquor before fleeing the scene in a red Nissan Murano with Illinois license plate DH74832.

The vehicle is driven by another unidentified male.

The burglaries have taken place on several occasions over the past few months, with the most recent incident reported on April 29 at Zoku Sushi on 1616 N Kedzie Ave. Police describe the suspect as a male wearing dark clothing, green gloves, and a dark jacket with fur around the hood.

Business owners are advised to report any suspicious activity to the police and to take measures to secure their premises, including installing security cameras and alarm systems
