CHERRY HILL, NJ – After more than two decades of dedicated service to the Cherry Hill Fire Department, Fire Chief Chris Callan has announced his retirement from active duty.

Chief Callan began his firefighting career as a member of the Woodcrest Fire Company before joining the Cherry Hill Fire Department’s Recruit Class 98-01 in 1998. Over the years, he held various positions within the department, including Lieutenant, Captain, and Assistant Fire Chief, before being promoted to Fire Chief on January 1, 2019.

During his career, Chief Callan was a driving force behind the department’s commitment to physical fitness for firefighters. He brought in various exercise professionals and programs to prioritize the personal health of members. He also served as an instructor for various firefighting disciplines and was involved in OEM Operations during storms and other events.

Chief Callan received numerous accolades throughout his career, which demonstrate his commitment to the residents of Cherry Hill. He was also a member of the Camden County Fire Chiefs Executive Board and served as the Camden County Fire Coordinator.

The Cherry Hill Fire Department and the Board of Fire Commissioners extend their best wishes to Chief Callan for a successful retirement and thank him for his countless contributions to the department.
