LANCASTER, PA – Joshua Luciano, a 22-year-old Lancaster city man, has been recently sentenced to life in prison without parole plus 67 years for the murder of Alexander Rivera and injuring another person at the 1722 Motor Lodge in East Lampeter Township.

Lancaster County Judge Jeffery Wright delivered the sentence after a four-day retrial that concluded on December 15, during which a jury convicted Luciano of multiple charges, including criminal homicide, conspiracy to commit criminal homicide, attempted homicide, aggravated assault, delivery of a controlled substance, and carrying a firearm without a license.

The murder occurred on March 19, 2020, following a dispute over a marijuana sale. Luciano returned to the motel parking lot and fired a .40 caliber handgun at the group, killing Rivera and injuring another person. Further investigation revealed Luciano’s DNA on the firearm that killed Rivera, as well as the steering wheel of the Acura used in the shooting.

The case of co-defendant Tyler Gonzalez-Inthiphan is still pending.
