WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Washington, D.C. Metro Police Department is investigating a carjacking early this morning in Northwest D.C.
At approximately 1 am, two individuals armed with guns approached the rideshare driver at the 5400 block of Connecticut Avenue. They forced the victim out of his car. One of the assailants drove off with the vehicle, while the other followed in a red sedan.
However, the carjackers only managed to drive a short distance before ditching the driver’s car. Both suspects left in the sedan, leaving the victim to recover his car. Items had been taken from inside the vehicle. Law enforcement authorities believe this carjacking might be linked to another armed robbery a few blocks away around 12:30 am, close to 8th and Florida Avenue.
