NEW KENSINGTON, PA – Anthony Burda, the suspect in the robbery of the First National Bank on Tarentum Bridge Road on December 30, 2022, was arrested today, by the U.S. Marshals Task Force. New Kensington Police, County Detectives, and U.S. Marshals had been searching for Burda since an arrest warrant was issued in January, with a reward offered for his arrest in March.
During the bank robbery, Burda allegedly demanded money from the tellers and threatened to shoot the employees if they did not comply with his demands. Although he made threats, no firearm was displayed during the incident. Burda managed to escape the scene with an undetermined amount of money. After an extensive search for surveillance video and conducting police interviews, investigators identified Burda as the lone suspect in the robbery.
Burda is now facing multiple charges, including two counts of robbery, terroristic threats, and theft by unlawful taking. He is known to have frequented the Tarentum, Harrison, and Brackenridge areas. Anthony Burda will be arraigned on Friday, and authorities continue to investigate the case.
The New Kensington Police Department and the Westmoreland County District Attorney’s Office remind the public that all criminal charges are merely accusations, and all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
