ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – On Wednesday, an altercation took place outside of a residence on Trenton Terrace, resulting in two individuals being stabbed and a canine losing its life. At 4:12 AM, officers were dispatched to the scene and found Joseph Dixon and Deontay Mickey-Evans bleeding from stab wounds, with Dixon also tending to a severely injured canine.
The altercation began between Dixon, Mickey-Evans, and a third individual, Angel Hernandez-Contreras, who threatened the victims and a female, Jordan Banner, with a knife. In response, Banner retrieved her canine from inside her residence, while Dixon armed himself with a hammer. During the ensuing physical altercation, Hernandez-Contreras stabbed Dixon, Mickey-Evans, and the canine, which later died from its injuries.
All three injured individuals were transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. An investigation conducted by the Atlantic City Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Section led to charges being filed against all parties involved.
Angel Hernandez-Contreras, 28, of Atlantic City, faces two counts of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and cruelty to animals. Joseph Dixon, 33, of Atlantic City, is charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. Jordan Banner, 33, of Atlantic City, faces charges of unlawful possession of a weapon and cruelty to animals. Lastly, Deontay Mickey-Evans, 21, of Willingboro, NJ, is charged with aggravated assault.
