Wilmington man chased and punched 71-year-old victim over parking spot dispute

WILMINGTON, DE – Delaware State Police have arrested Dimitri Taylor, a 39-year-old resident of Wilmington, for felony assault following an investigation that began yesterday.

The victim, a 71-year-old male, is listed in critical condition after an altercation with Taylor in a medical complex parking lot in Newark. The altercation began when both parties attempted to park in the same spot. After a verbal argument, the victim tried to find another parking space, but Taylor parked his vehicle and chased the victim’s car around the lot, punching the driver’s side window.

The victim parked in a separate spot, exited his vehicle, and pleaded with Taylor to stop, but the suspect punched him, causing him to fall and hit his head.

Taylor turned himself in at Troop 6 and was charged with Assault First Degree (Felony). He was released on a $10,000 unsecured bail after being arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court #2.
