GREENSBURG, PA – Westmoreland County District Attorney Nicole W. Ziccarelli announced yesterday the conviction of Robert Baldwin, the former chief of the Seward Police Department, on charges of sexual extortion and official oppression.
Baldwin entered a guilty plea on Monday, thereby avoiding a jury trial.
Charges were filed against Baldwin in 2020 after two women came forward and accused him of using his position to gain sexual favors. In a statement, DA Ziccarelli thanked the Pennsylvania State Police and Assistant District Attorney Anthony Iannamorelli for their efforts in holding Baldwin accountable for his actions.
She expressed hope that the victims and the community would feel safer with Baldwin’s conviction, emphasizing the importance of public officials being held accountable for their actions.
