TRENTON, NJ – New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy will be heading to Michigan on Wednesday to meet with governors from across the country to talk about mental health issues facing children. In the wake of a prolonged shutdown during the COVID-19 pandemic, a youth mental health crisis has emerged in New Jersey and other states the kept children out of school and away from others for a long period of time.
Governor Phil Murphy and First Lady Tammy Murphy are scheduled to attend a National Governors Association event in Detroit on Wednesday. The Governor will be holding a Chair’s Initiative Convening Day One event titled “Strengthening Youth Mental Health” with Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer at the MGM Grand Detroit.
At the same venue, First Lady Tammy Murphy will be holding a First Spouses’ Initiative Roundtable Discussions on “Creating a National Model to Tackle the Maternal and Infant Health Crisis: Expanding Access and Quality of Care” with Governor Murphy and Governor Whitmer.
Later in the day Governor Murphy and Governor Whitmer will hold a National Governors Association Roundtable Discussion on “Ensuring Access and Affordability of Quality Treatment and Care within Youth Mental Health.”
