MORRISTOWN, NJ – Tyrone Ellison, a 36-year-old man from Morristown, New Jersey, was sentenced to 69 years in prison yesterday. Judge Ralph E. Amirata handed down the sentence following a jury’s guilty verdict on charges including first-degree kidnapping, second-degree possession with intent to distribute controlled substances, third-degree aggravated criminal sexual contact, and third-degree possession of controlled substances.

Ellison was found not guilty of third-degree aggravated assault with a deadly weapon but was convicted of simple assault, a disorderly persons offense.

On February 13, 2021, Ellison kidnapped the victim, held him against his will, and sexually assaulted him. The victim managed to escape and contact law enforcement.

A subsequent search of Ellison’s residence uncovered packages of methamphetamine and evidence of drug distribution. Ellison will be subject to Megan’s Law notification and parole supervision for life upon his release.
