Four Injured in shooting at Bridgeport's Seaside Park, Three Suspects Arrested

BRIDGEPORT, CT – A shooting at Seaside Park left four people injured yesterday, prompting a swift response from local law enforcement. The incident occurred just after 6 p.m. during an unauthorized music event attended by over 200 people, including adults and children of all ages.

Police Chief Roderick Porter reported that a 24-year-old man from Bridgeport, a 23-year-old woman from Waterbury, and a 23-year-old woman from Bridgeport were all taken to the hospital and treated for gunshot injuries. The main shooter, identified as 24-year-old Christopher Lloyd Rooche, aka Trey Johnson, of Bridgeport, was quickly arrested after a pursuit with police.

Rooche faces multiple charges, including assault, risk of injury, reckless endangerment, unlawful discharge of a firearm, stealing a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, having a weapon in a motor vehicle, and possession of a large-capacity magazine. His bond was set at $500,000.

Two other suspects, 27-year-old Rashad Smith and Leanna Phillips, 25, both of Bridgeport, were arrested on charges connected to the shooting as well as drug-related charges and interfering with an officer.

The department is commended the quick actions of the patrol division in apprehending the violent suspects and preventing further harm.
