DORCHESTER, MA – On Wednesday, the Youth Violence Strike Force made an on-site arrest of a 15-year-old male for unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition near Devon Street and Laredo Street.
Officers were conducting a firearm investigation in the area when they observed the suspect with his hand in his pocket and a rectangular bulge near his waistline. Due to this information, officers approached the suspect and gained control of his hands.
Upon conducting a pat frisk, officers felt the presence of a firearm and were able to recover a Smith and Wesson MP Shield with one round in the chamber and six rounds in the magazine from the suspect’s waistband. The suspect could not have a license to carry a firearm due to his age.
During the arrest, a large crowd gathered around the officers and began shouting obscenities, interfering with the police investigation. Additional officers were called to the scene for assistance, and two more suspects were taken into custody for disturbing the peace and resisting arrest.
The 15-year-old male will be arraigned in Dorchester District Court. His name was not released.
