Bronx Man Faces Charges for Alleged Brutal Killing of Pomeranian Dog

Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced yesterday that Victor Castillo, 32, of Webb Avenue, the Bronx, has been indicted for Aggravated Cruelty to Animals after allegedly killing a 7-year-old Pomeranian dog named Ken-Shin during an argument with his ex-girlfriend on February 9, 2023

. Castillo reportedly picked up the dog by the neck and slammed its head onto a wooden coffee table, causing multiple fractures and lacerations to the dog’s brain, resulting in its immediate death. The incident took place in the ex-girlfriend’s apartment on Arthur Avenue.

Castillo was arraigned yesterday, before Bronx Supreme Court Justice Guy Mitchell. He is due back in court on May 4, 2023.

The case is being prosecuted by Senior Investigative Assistant District Attorneys Kevin Griffin and Robert Eisman, under the supervision of VCEB Deputy Chief Ronald Sannicandro and VCEB Bureau Chief Newton Mendys. District Attorney Clark expressed gratitude to the A.S.P.C.A. and NYPD Detective Janet Ospina for their work on the investigation.
