DERWOOD, MD – Johnny Franklin Dove, Jr., a 22-year-old Derwood man, is in custody after a pursuit involving law enforcement agencies across Montgomery and Frederick County.
Dove was wanted for first-degree attempted murder in connection with a violent domestic assault that occurred on Sunday.
Montgomery County Department of Police detectives filed a warrant on Monday, charging Dove with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, felony use of a firearm during a violent crime, second-degree assault, and reckless endangerment. When detectives attempted a traffic stop in Clarksburg, Dove led police on a pursuit that stretched into Frederick County and Frederick City.
During the search, Dove managed to switch vehicles and evade capture. He was eventually located in Loudoun County, VA, on Tuesday, where he was taken into custody with the assistance of Loudoun County Sheriff’s deputies. Dove is currently being held in the Loudoun County Detention Center, awaiting extradition to Maryland.
