ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – On Monday, the Atlantic City Police Department announced the arrest of John Coles, a 52-year-old male from Atlantic City, who was wanted for shooting a man on March 23, 2023.
Officers Henderson Cedano and Christopher Campbell located Coles in the 1400 block of Atlantic Avenue, and he was arrested without incident.
The shooting incident began on March 23 when patrol officers responded to the 1400 block of Memorial Avenue regarding gunshots being fired. Officers found evidence of gunfire but no victim. After checking local hospitals, a shooting victim was not found. Two days later, the 42-year-old victim from Hillside, NJ, walked into the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
Coles is charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and certain person not to possess a weapon. He was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
