SECAUCUS, NJ – A disturbing incident at the Aloft Hotel in Secaucus has led to the arrest of Vineeth Ravuri, 26, of Jersey City. On Sunday, Ravuri met a woman at the hotel to engage in sexual activity in exchange for money. However, the situation turned violent when the woman asked Ravuri to leave the room.
In response, Ravuri brandished a knife and demanded his money back. A struggle ensued, during which the woman received lacerations to her finger and buttocks. Ravuri attempted to prevent her from leaving the room, but she managed to escape to the hotel lobby while yelling for help.
Secaucus Police officers located Ravuri in the lobby, covered in blood and still possessing the bloody knife used in the assault. He was subsequently arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including armed robbery, aggravated assault, criminal restraint, and possessing a weapon for an unlawful purpose. Ravuri is currently being held at the Hudson County Jail.
Secaucus Police Chief Dennis Miller emphasized that prostitution is not a victimless crime and that sex workers are often subjected to physical and sexual assaults, as well as robbery.
