DOWNINGTOWN, PA – Diane L. Rohrman, a 50-year-old former attorney, was sentenced today, to serve up to three years in a state correctional institution for stealing more than $169,000 from her elderly father. Rohrman was convicted of theft, identity theft, access device fraud, and computer trespass on December 13, 2022. In addition to her prison sentence, Rohrman was ordered to pay restitution and have no contact with her father.
The case began when Rohrman’s father and sister reported the theft to the Warminster Township Police Department in August 2019. The investigation revealed that Rohrman had been using her position as her father’s power of attorney to steal money from him through various methods, including writing checks to herself, withdrawing cash from his accounts, and making unauthorized payments with his credit cards. The theft occurred on an almost weekly basis, leaving the elderly man emotionally and financially devastated.
During the sentencing hearing, Rohrman’s father and two sisters provided victim impact statements, detailing the emotional toll the crime had taken on their family. The father described feeling betrayed and manipulated by his daughter, while one sister lamented that the family had been “ripped apart” by Rohrman’s actions.
Deputy District Attorney Marc J. Furber argued that Rohrman had used her legal expertise to exploit her father’s trust and resources systematically. The court ultimately agreed, handing down a prison sentence and requiring Rohrman to make restitution for the stolen funds.
