Montgomery County, MD – A 65-year-old Takoma Park resident claimed a $50,000 Bonus Match 5 prize on Monday, just in time before the deadline. The prize was won in a Dec. 27 drawing, and the winner had 182 days from the drawing date to claim the prize.
The self-employed player often plays his lucky game along with other jackpot-style games and had purchased the winning quick-pick ticket from the Fenton Citgo in Silver Spring. He bought his games early in the day but didn’t check the Bonus Match 5 ticket until later.
When he scanned the ticket in the store, he found out he had won the $50,000 top prize.
“I just calmly left the store after that,” said the winner with a smile. “I was happy but in no rush to claim the prize. I just wanted to wait.”
The lucky winner waited until Monday morning to claim his prize, leaving him with just 53 days to spare before the deadline. He shared with Lottery Officials that he has no immediate plans for the prize.
Fenton Citgo located at 8333 Fenton Street in Silver Spring was also a winner, receiving a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling the top-prize winning Bonus Match 5 ticket.
