The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Child and Vulnerable Adult Abuse Unit has arrested and charged Kayla Greenwell, a 23-year-old employee from Oxon Hill, with multiple counts of child abuse and assault. The arrest came after the PGPD received several videos showing Greenwell assaulting children in her care at an Oxon Hill daycare center.
Investigators responded immediately to the daycare center, located in the 6000 block of Oxon Hill Road. After gathering evidence and identifying Greenwell as the suspect, an arrest warrant was obtained. The preliminary investigation revealed that Greenwell recorded herself abusing the children on her cell phone on Wednesday, just a few weeks after starting her employment at the center.
Greenwell is currently in the custody of the Department of Corrections. The investigation is ongoing, and detectives are urging anyone with information relevant to the case to call 301-772-4930. Callers can also remain anonymous by contacting Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS, online at www.pgcrimesolvers.com, or by using the “P3 Tips” mobile app.
The Prince George’s County Police Department would like to thank Fox5 News for promptly forwarding the video to their Media Relations Division and delaying its airing, which allowed investigators to make a swift arrest. The PGPD also appreciates the assistance from the community in identifying the suspect.
