Brooklyn, NY – The New York City Police Department is investigating the death of a 23-year-old male who was stabbed on Sunday. The victim has been identified as Kristian Vargas, of 270 Wortman Avenue in Brooklyn.
Police responded to a 911 call at approximately 2:12 pm, reporting a male stabbed at the intersection of West 23 Street and Mermaid Avenue, within the 60th Precinct.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered Vargas with a stab wound to his torso. Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to NYU Langone Hospital in Brooklyn, where he was pronounced dead.
A preliminary investigation suggests that the assault occurred at the intersection of West 36 Street and Mermaid Avenue, and the police department is currently investigating the incident.
