WILMINGTON, DE – Delaware State Police have arrested 62-year-old William Davis of Wilmington on numerous criminal charges following a series of burglaries to various businesses in the Wilmington area in early March. The investigation began on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at approximately 10:47 p.m. and continued through Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at approximately 12:26 a.m., with reports of burglaries along Philadelphia Pike and Concord Pike. The suspect made forced entry into four businesses by smashing the front glass door or window. Additionally, on March 12, 2023, the same suspect made forced entry through the front door to the Cricket Wireless located at 622 South Maryland Avenue, Wilmington, and removed merchandise.
Through investigative means, troopers determined William Davis was the suspect in the five commercial burglaries. On Thursday, Davis was located by troopers leaving his residence in Wilmington and was taken into custody without incident. A subsequent search warrant executed at Davis’s residence led to the discovery of stolen property and items utilized in the five described burglaries.
Davis was transported to Troop 1 and charged with the following crimes: Burglary Third Degree (Felony) – 5 counts, Possession of Burglar Tools (Felony), Theft Under $1,500, Criminal Mischief Under $1,000 – 3 counts, and Criminal Mischief Over $1,000 – 2 counts. Davis was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court # 2 and released on his own recognizance.
