DENVILLE, NJ – Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, Chief of Detectives Robert McNally, and Denville Police Chief Frank Perna announced the arrest of two students at Morris Knolls High School on March 23, 2023, following an incident involving gun possession. School staff discovered the two juveniles in possession of a weapon, and the school’s resource officer, along with other responding officers, quickly arrived on the scene. The weapon was secured by the school staff before the officers arrived.
The involved students were arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and related charges. Due to the case involving juveniles, no further information about their identities will be released. Authorities have emphasized that there was no active threat to the school, its staff, or students during the incident, and the matter remains under investigation.
To help alleviate any fears or concerns among the school community, the Denville Police Department will maintain an increased presence at Morris Knolls High School over the next few days. Prosecutor Robert Carroll expressed his gratitude to the school’s administration and staff for their swift actions and cooperation in resolving the situation.
