Death of 70-year-old man on scooter raises traffic safety concerns for community

BURLINGTON, NJ – A fatal accident occurred on Saturday when a 70-year-old pedestrian, Jeremiah McCarthy, was fatally struck by a vehicle on Route 130 South and Uhler Ave. The driver, also a 70-year-old male from Burlington Township, New Jersey, remained at the scene and was not injured.

This devastating incident has raised concerns about pedestrian safety in the area.

The City of Burlington Police Department’s Traffic Unit and Criminal Investigation Division are currently investigating the case to determine the cause of the accident and any potential safety issues that may have contributed to it. Authorities are looking into factors such as road conditions, visibility, and the behavior of both the driver and the pedestrian at the time of the accident.
