ELIZABETH, NJ – A multi-agency investigation led to the arrest of three men accused of several armed robberies and a carjacking that occurred in Union County. Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel announced the arrests of Alfred Pierre, 37, and Daron Thomas, 32, on Tuesday, on charges of robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, aggravated assault, and weapons offenses. Isaiah Barrett, 32, was previously arrested in December 2022 for one of the robberies and was later charged with additional counts of robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, aggravated assault, and weapons offenses.

Barrett was also charged with falsely reporting a crime to law enforcement and employing a juvenile in furtherance of this false report.

A thorough and exhaustive investigation conducted by various police departments led to the identification of Barrett, Pierre, and Thomas as suspects in five armed robberies that occurred in December 2022 and January 2023 in different municipalities. They were also identified as suspects in a carjacking that took place in January 2023 in Linden. Members of the Union County Prosecutor’s Office Intelligence and Narcotics Division, along with police departments from Linden, Roselle, Elizabeth, Orange, and the New Jersey State Parole Board, executed the arrest warrants on Pierre and Thomas. They were placed under arrest without incident and transported to the Union County Police Department for processing.

Prosecutor Daniel commended the investigators for their fortitude and dedication to the case, and Assistant Prosecutor Melissa Caparruva will be prosecuting the case. Defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

Anyone with additional information should contact Detective William Hannon of the Union County Prosecutor’s Office or their local police department. All three defendants are in custody and housed in the Essex County Jail.
