HUDSON COUNTY, NJ – On Monday, two Jersey City men, Shelton Sutton, 36, and Kevin London, 36, have been arrested and charged with insurance fraud following an investigation by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Insurance Fraud Unit. The men allegedly provided false information to an auto insurance company in order to receive compensation for medical treatment after a car accident.

Sutton is facing an additional charge of Conspiracy to Commit Insurance Fraud. The investigation revealed that Sutton was the actual driver of the vehicle involved in the collision, but he identified himself as London to law enforcement during the initial investigation. Both Sutton and London later sought medical treatment and filed claims with Progressive Insurance, with London falsely identifying himself as the driver and Sutton as a passenger.

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez credited the Insurance Fraud Unit for their diligent work in the investigation and subsequent arrests. The defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty, and the legal process will continue to unfold as the case moves forward.
