Monmouth County Woman Charged with Aggravated Manslaughter and Endangering the Welfare of a Child

ASBURY PARK, NJ – On Monday, A Monmouth County Grand Jury has indicted Quanique Smith, a 26-year-old woman from Asbury Park, on five counts, including first-degree Aggravated Manslaughter and two counts of second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

Smith’s 2-year-old son died of a drug overdose earlier this year, after he ingested heroin and fentanyl that had been left within reach of him and his 5-year-old sibling. Smith was charged with third-degree Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance and third-degree Hindering Apprehension as well. The Asbury Park Police Department responded to the report of an unresponsive child in Smith’s apartment on the 100 block of Langford Street on January 5, 2023.
