NEW YORK, NY – Police in Queens are trying to identify a man who has been defacing various public facilities with anti-semitic symbols. Detectives with the city’s 112th Precinct are investigating the connected incidents as a hate crime.
Here’s what happened so far:
- On Saturday, March 18, 2023, at approximately 1500 hours, it was discovered that an unknown individual approached 68-40 Austin Street, the 112 Pct., and used an object to etch two Anti-Semitic symbols into the cement in front of the location.
- On Monday, March 20, 2023, at approximately 2121 hours, it was discovered that an unknown individual approached a Junior High School, located at 65-55 102 Street, and used an object to etch two Anti-Semitic symbols into the cement in front of the location.
- On Monday, March 20, 2023, at approximately 2204 hours, it was discovered that an unknown individual approached a residential building, located at 110-11 Queens Blvd, and used an object to etch one Anti-Semitic symbol into the cement in front of the building.
- On Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at approximately 0900 hours, it was discovered that unknown individual(s) had etched one Anti-Semitic symbol into the cement in front of a residential building, located at 112-20 72 Drive.
- On Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at approximately 1353 hours, it was discovered that an unknown individual approached a Synagogue, located at 71-11 112 Street, and used an object to etch one Anti-Semitic symbol into the cement in front of the location.
- On Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at approximately 1514 hours, it was discovered that an unknown individual approached a residential building located at 63-74 Austin Street, and used an object to etch one Anti-Semitic symbol into the cement in front of the location. The individual fled from the incident on Austin Street.
The suspect is described as a male with a medium complexion and slim build, last seen wearing a blue sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, and sneakers.
