NEW YORK, NY – Days after a 14-year-old was killed moving between cars on a New York City subway train, the New York City Police Department reported they had stopped two teens from subway surfing this weekend.
“NYPD Transit officers caught two teenagers for subway surfing. One was hanging off the back of the train car, while another was riding on top,” the NYPD announced on Sunday. “Your safety is important to us. Avoid getting seriously hurt or arrested by riding inside the train car.”
The message comes two days after a 14-year-old boy fell to his death while walking between subway cars aboard the 5 train in the Bronx on Friday night.
Police said the incident happened near the 180th Street subway station in the Van Nest section of the Bronx.
According to police at around 8 pm, the boy was walking between cars when he slipped and fell under the train. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
