NEWARK, DE – A 30-year-old woman was killed and a 24-year-old man injured in a single motor vehicle crash on Interstate 95 North Saturday night.
Delaware State Police reported the crash occurred at approximately 10:26 p.m. when a 2014 white Dodge Journey was traveling northbound on Interstate 95, south of the service plaza.
“For unknown reasons, the Dodge exited the roadway off the right shoulder and overturned,” DSP said in a statement. “The 24-year-old male operator from Wilmington was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The cause of the collision is still being determined. Possible charges are pending upon determination.”
Two female passengers were in the vehicle at the time of the crash, a 23-year-old and a 30-year-old from Wilmington,
Police said the 23-year-old female was transported to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The 30-year-old female was transported to an area hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased.
Her name was not released.
Interstate 95 northbound was closed for approximately 2 hours while the crash was investigated, and the roadway was cleared.
