Man holding corkscrew said he was a cop, robbed victim outside bank

NEW YORK, NY – A man armed with a corkscrew posing as a police officer robbed a man inside a TD Bank in Queens.

Police are now asking the public to identify the suspect in the January incident.

According to detectives investigating the case, on Thursday, January 26, at around 3 am, a 64-year-old male victim was inside a TD Bank located at 78-01 Queens Boulevard depositing cash when an unknown individual knocked on the glass of the ATM vestibule.

“The victim opened the door to exit the location, but the individual blocked the doorway to prevent the victim from leaving,” police reported. “The individual displayed a corkscrew while stating that he was the police.”

The suspect threatened the victim who reluctantly handed over $400 in cash. The suspect fled the scene.

The individual was described as a male with a dark complexion that was last seen wearing a black/cream jacket, green sweatpants, a black wool hat and a white scarf.
