SEASIDE PARK, NJ – A deceased whale found floating off the coast of the Jersey Shore on Wednesday is not believed to be the same whale discovered by the U.S. Coast Guard in a shipping lane off the coast of Sandy Hook.

That whale is now believed to have washed up along a jetty at Breezy Point near Rockaway Beach.

Another dead whale has been spotted off the coast of the Jersey Shore on Wednesday. This time, the unidentified whale was spotted off the coast of Seaside Park in Ocean County.

Seaside Park Mayor John Peterson reported the whale sighting at around 11 am on Wednesday.

Clean Ocean Action and the Marine Mammal Stranding Center confirmed the sighting today, reported off the coast at the L Street beach. News 12 reporter Jim Murdoch published a photo of the whale earlier today.

The photo by Murdoch shows the whale floating just beyond the breakers in Seaside Park.

The report comes just a day after the U.S. Coast Guard reported a deceased whale in the Ambrose Channel, a shipping lane between New York and New Jersey. It is unconfirmed that the whale is the same one spotted yesterday, some thirty miles north.
