BOWIE, MD – Vice President Kamala Harris looked the public in the eye this week and declared the Biden-Harris administration has lowered energy costs for Americans. It was yet another example of the Vice President being completely out of touch with Americans facing record heating and energy bills this winter during a period of record inflation.
“For working families, we have reduced heating and electricity bills so folks have more money in their pockets to buy things like schools supplies, replace the dishwasher or take a family vacation,” Harris declared.
Natural gas prices soared from $1.98 in March of 2020 to $7.04 this past winter. In the mid-Atlantic, electricity prices rose from $0.147 per kWh in January of 2022 to $0.193 per kWh in January of 2023.
Heating oil that sold for $1.13 in March of 2020 reach a peak of $4 this winter.
“What is she talking about? Electricity is up 11.9%, fuel oil is up 27.7%, and natural gas is up 26.7% over last year,” the RNC said in response to her video posted to Twitter.
