Fire damages home in Manchester

MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ – Police and firefighters responded to a structure fire inside Pine Acres Manor at around 9 am on Thursday.

According to James Komsa, spokesperson for the Manchester Police Department, police officers arriving at the scene observed smoke and flames emanating from the rear of the residence.

Officers quickly determined that the occupants of the home had already exited.

“As a result of the fire, the residence sustained fire and water damage to the rear interior of the residence and the building inspector subsequently deemed the residence uninhabitable.  There were no injuries as a result of this fire,” Komsa said.

Authorities are investigating the fire, but at this time, it does not appear suspicious in nature, but the exact cause and origin have yet to be determined.

Assisting at the scene were members of the Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Company, Manchester Volunteer Fire Company, Ocean County Fire Marshall, Manchester Township Building Department, Manchester Township OEM, and the American Red Cross.
