NEW YORK, NY – Police with the city’s 44th Precinct are searching for a man who followed a 19-year-old woman into an elevator inside a building on West 164th Street, then assaulted and robbed her.
According to police, on Wednesday, February 8, the victim, a 19-year-old female, was walking when an unknown male individual followed her into a residential building located in the vicinity of West 164th Street and Woodycrest Avenue.
At around 9 pm, the man followed the girl into the elevator and demanded that she take off her pants.
“The individual then forcibly removed the victim’s cellphone and punched her in the head. The victim started screaming for help, and when the elevator reached the 6th floor, the individual threw the victim’s cell phone into the hallway and fled the location on foot to parts unknown,” the NYPD said in statement issued by DCPI today. “The victim was treated on scene for minor injuries to the head.”
Now the NYPD is seeking the public’s assistance to identify the suspect wanted for this crime.
Police described the suspect as male with a dark complexion and medium build. He was last seen wearing a blue hoodie, black hat, black pants, black and blue sneakers, and holding a black cane.
