GAITHERSBURG, MD – A man wanted for a double fatal collision with two pedestrians, a man and woman crossing the street to vote, has been indicted upon his return to the United States.
According to the Montgomery County Police Department, 47-year-old Davinder Singh was arrested on charges associated with a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred on Tuesday, November 8, 2022.
The investigation revealed that Singh was driving his Toyota Prius west on School Drive when he struck and killed Miguel Antonio Ortiz, 65, and Ana Margarita Ortiz, 70, who were crossing the street to vote at the school polling place.
In accordance with Maryland Criminal Law article 2-503, Singh was found to be driving while under the influence of alcohol. He was charged with two counts of vehicular homicide while under the influence of alcohol.
Singh later fled the U.S., but upon his return from overseas, he was arrested on Friday following the indictment by the Montgomery County grand jury on January 13.
