SILVER SPRING, MD – Police have released video surveillance footage of suspects wanted for committing robberies against food trucks in the area.
The Montgomery County Department of Police Major Crimes Division and Takoma Park Criminal Investigations Division are investigating several commercial robberies that occurred in January.
As a result of the release of surveillance photos of the suspects, detectives are asking the public for assistance in identifying the suspects suspected of multiple food truck robberies in Montgomery County and Takoma Park.
In Silver Spring on Monday, January 23, the 4th District officers responded to Elvira’s Kitchen Food Truck in the 14000 block of Georgia Avenue following a robbery that had just occurred.
According to the preliminary investigation, two Hispanic male suspects approached the food truck at approximately 2:55 p.m., vaulted the barrier and entered. Upon entering the truck, one of the suspects began to pull out a weapon from his waistband. The employee fled the truck believing it was a weapon. It is unknown how much money was stolen by the suspects, and they fled the scene in an unknown direction.
During the following robberies, the suspects entered the food truck, displayed a weapon, and stole an undisclosed amount of cash:
Vanessa’s Pupuseria, located in the 8500 block of Piney Branch Road, on Thursday, February 2, 2023, at approximately 5:05 p.m.
In Takoma Park, Pupuseria Luisa is scheduled to open at approximately 4 p.m. on Friday, January 27, 2023.
At approximately 3 p.m. on Friday, January 20, 2023, Pupuseria y Taquiera Lupita Food Truck will be located on New Hampshire Avenue, in Takoma Park.
The Pupuseria Luisa in the 6500 block of New Hampshire Avenue, in Takoma Park, will open at approximately 2 p.m. on Friday, January 13, 2023.
Both suspects were described as Hispanic males in their twenties to thirties with a thin build.
