FRANKFORD, DE – Two people were killed Saturday night in a high speed crash on Roxana Road in Frankford.

The Delaware State Police responded to a crash involving a 1997 Chevy Silverado just east of McCary Road at around 9 pm to find the vehicle overturned.

According to police, the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed.

“As the Chevrolet approached a left curve in the roadway, the operator failed to negotiate the curve and the right-side tires of the Chevrolet left the roadway,” investigators said today. “The operator swerved to re-enter the roadway and the Chevrolet began skidding sideways in a southwesterly direction. The Chevrolet skidded across the roadway and then exited the north edge of Roxana Road, where it overturned. The Chevrolet continued overturning, striking a small tree and then the right rear side of a parked 2005 Chevrolet Silverado in the driveway of a residence located in the 36000 block of Roxana Road.”

The victims’ vehicle then struck an attached garage at that residence before coming to a stop.

DSP said a 28-year-old male operator of the Chevrolet from Selbyville, DE, who was not properly restrained, was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

A three-year-old girl who was also not properly restrained, according to police was pronounced dead at the scene.

Roxana Road was closed for approximately 7 hours while the crash was investigated, and the roadway cleared.
