NEW YORK, NY – A 29-year-old woman was sent to the hospital after being sexually assaulted by an unknown male suspect inside her Prospect Heights apartment building Wednesday night.
Detectives with the New York City Police Department are investigating the attack that happened at around 11 pm in the vicinity of 3rd Avenue and 8th Street.
“A 29-year-old female victim entered her apartment building, followed by an unknown individual,” the NYPD said in a statement today. “Once inside, the individual approached the victim from behind and proceeded to reach under the victim’s skirt and forcible touch her, before fleeing the location on foot to parts unknown.”
The woman was transported to NYC Health & Hospitals/Kings County, where she was treated and released. The NYPD Special Victims Unit is investigating.
The suspect was described as a male, 30’s, medium complexion, approximately 5’6″ tall, with a medium build and short black hair. He was last seen wearing a blue hooded jacket, a dark-colored backpack, black jeans and white sneakers.
He was captured on a nearby surveillance video.
