HUNTERDON COUNTY, NH – As part of the annual Shop with a Cop event sponsored by Hunterdon County PBA Local 188 on December 20th, Hunterdon County Prosecutors Office detectives participated. Children are provided with positive experiences with law enforcement officers and the law enforcement community as part of the program, which assists families in need.
The students were picked up at school, taken to Fred Beans, where they had snacks, met Santa, then escorted to Walmart Flemington where they shopped for their families. Upon completion of shopping, everyone returned to Fred Beans Toyota of Flemington to wrap presents and enjoy pizza. Thank you to Fred Beans Toyota of Flemington, Walmart Flemington, and the Hunterdon PBA for assisting with this special event. #shopwithacop is an annual event which pairs children with law enforcement officers for a shopping spree leading up to Christmas.
The program began over 30 years ago when a small group of officers passed around a hat and collected money to take a child in need shopping for toys. Since that time, the program has grown with thousands of children benefitting from it.
