ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – The Atlantic City Police Department shut down a fence operation that was buying stolen goods from a group of thieves targeting businesses across the city.

Four people were arrested and charged with receiving stolen goods after a two-month investigation by the department’s special investigations division.

“During the months of August and September of 2022, members of the Atlantic City Police Department’s Special Investigations Section conducted an operation targeting employees of commercial establishments in Atlantic City that engaged in the purchase of stolen merchandise,” the department said,. “The operation was conducted in response to numerous complaints of shoplifting by retail stores at The Walk by Tanger Outlets. It was found that employees at these various commercial establishments were purchasing items that were stolen, sometimes minutes after a shoplifting theft, from retail stores located at The Walk.”

“The Atlantic City Police Department will aggressively target any individual or establishment found to be buying stolen merchandise” ACPD Chief James Sarkos said. “We will continue to work with all of our partners to hold these offenders accountable.”

Jaime Zuniga Cardona, 50, of Pleasantville, NJ, owner of La Latina Barber Shop; Eugene Ramos, 61, of Mays Landing, NJ, employee of Pizza Di Roma; Carlos Murillo Galeano, 34, employee at Israel Barbershop; and Ismail Cetin, 58., a former employee of Pizza King in Atlantic City wer charged.
