Cumberland police officers arrest two for death of dog

Cumberland police officers arrested two men who were suspected of killing a dog ewhile responding to a home on the 400 block of Pine Avenue and Cumberland in September.

On September 15th, officers arrived at the home and, after speaking to several individuals in the home, determined that a dog at the residence had been assaulted and killed.

On Thursday, police filed charges against Quincy Rashawn and Michael Ross, 20, for aggravated animal cruelty and animal cruelty.

“Upon the officer’s arrival, they spoke with several parties and learned that a dog might have been injured at the residence,” the Cumberland Police Department said. “The officers were able to locate a deceased dog; after further investigation, it was learned that the cause of death was from abuse.”

Cumberland detectives continue to investigate the incident which led to the arrest warrant this week. Ross is being held in jail without bond at this time.
