The drill was a failure on the ground as firefighters had a long delay trying to hook up their trucks to a local water source, pointing to an area for improvement in the future.

Toms River planners killed a proposal to build a 10-story apartment building at Riverview Point. The 120-unit building was proposed to be built at the corner of Water Street and Hooper Avenue. It would have included 117 one-bedroom apartments and 39 two-bedroom apartments. 50 years ago town leaders knew it was a bad idea to build a 10-story apartment complex, long before the current leaders proposed two of them nearby.
