TOMS RIVER, NJ – A dog park being built in Silverton was a welcomed addition to Toms River Township’s parks and recreation offerings, but the township council last week announced the park would also come with a lot of rules.
First, you will need a permit in order to use the park, and your dogs will need to be immunized and licensed in the township to enter.
According to the ordinance passed by the township council in September, adults are only allowed to enter with two dogs at a time, and the park will have a twenty-dog max capacity. Puppies under six months old will not be allowed inside the park.
All male dogs must be neutered. Female dogs in heat are also not allowed in the park.
That’s not the end of the rules. No treats are allowed inside the park.
The park was expected to open this month after the council awarded a $240,000 contract to construct the fence, benches, a walking trail, and landscaping.
