The man who shot and killed John Lennon denied for parole for the 12th time

NEW YORK, NY – Mark David Chapman is now 67 years old and it has been 42 years since he shot and killed former Beatle John Lennon on his way home to his New York City apartment.

Chapman appear before the New York City Parole Board in late August and for the 12th consecutive time was denied parole according to the State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.

On December 8,1980, as John Lennon and Yoko Ono were returning home to their Upper West Side apartment, Chapman, who asked the famous musician for an autograph earlier that day returned to shoot him.

Chapman at the time said he killed Lennon simply because he was very famous and was seeking self-glory. His next Parole Board hearing is scheduled for February of 2024.
