NORFOLK, VA – A Norfolk man was arrested for an officer-involved shooting on Vincent Avenue on Wednesday that left one police officer injured.
According to police, on Wednesday, at around 9:35 p.m., officers were on patrol in the 2700 block of Vincent Avenue when they noticed two suspicious vehicles stopped in the road.
“While the officers were attempting to investigate further, a man near the vehicles began firing at the officers. Two officers immediately fired their service weapons, and the suspects fled the area. One of the officers detained a suspect after a foot pursuit. This suspect sustained no injuries during the incident,” the Norfolk Police Department said today. “One of the officers involved sustained a non-life-threatening injury during the shooting. The officer is currently receiving treatment and is expected to recover.”
Shortly after the shooting, officers were notified of a gunshot victim near the scene. Officers located a man with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, and he was taken to the hospital.
As a result of the investigation, detectives charged Ali A. Moore, 20, with aggravated malicious wounding, two counts of attempted aggravated malicious wounding, and three counts of use of a firearm.
