Suspect Arrested After Attempting to Ram Police Officer at Seaview Square Mall

OCEAN TOWNSHIP, NJ –   On Monday, at approximately 2:30 pm, officers were dispatched to Target for a report of a shoplifting in progress.  Captain Patrick Martin was in the area of Target and observed the accused, Anthony Bowe, driving near Applebee’s.

“Captain Martin attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop on Bowe’s vehicle.  Captain Martin exited his vehicle and Bowe drove his vehicle directly at him in an attempt to strike him before fleeing the area.  Surrounding towns were notified to be on the lookout for Bowe and his vehicle,” the Ocean Township Police Department said in a statement. “Officer Stenger responded to Target and spoke with Loss Prevention who advised Bowe had stolen over $500.00 worth of merchandise from the store.”

A warrant was issued for Bowe’s arrest charging him with Eluding, Aggravated Assault on Police, Possession of a Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, and Criminal Attempt Assault by Auto.

Several hours later, Bowe was located in his vehicle by Eatontown police officers and he was taken into custody without incident.  He was transported to OTPD by Officer Vallone for processing and later committed to the Monmouth County Correctional Institute pending an initial court appearance.
