COLUMBUS, OH – Police in Columbus are continuing their investigation in an unsolved murder case from July.
According to police, on July 8, at approximately 1:21 a.m., Zemyre Abraham was leaving the Speedway located in the 2800 block of Stelzer Road when he was approached by an unknown male.
“There was an interaction between Mr. Abraham and the unknown male that continued to the driver’s side of Mr. Abraham’s vehicle,” the Columbus Police Department said. “Mr. Abraham backed his white 2000 Lincoln LS out of the parking space in front of the gas station and the unknown male ran behind the vehicle and to the passenger’s side.”
The unknown male attempted to open the passenger door, and when he could not do so, jumped on top of the vehicle. The car was still moving at that time and it appeared as if Mr. Abraham was attempting to drive away. While on top of the moving vehicle, the unknown male fired multiple shots into the vehicle through the partially opened sunroof.
“The unknown male then fell or jumped from the car and ran south on Stelzer Road. Mr. Abraham had been struck multiple times in his upper body by gunfire and drove a short distance before coming to a stop. Mr. Abraham was located unresponsive by Columbus Police officers and transported to Grant Medical Center. Mr. Abraham died as a result of his injuries,” the department said.
Anyone with information on this homicide is asked to call Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS (8477).
