GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ – Police in Gloucester Township are once again advising residents to lock their car doors at night after a new round of burglaries to vehicles in the community this weekend.
“Our Gloucester Township Police Patrols took numerous reports over the weekend of unlocked vehicles being burglarized, attempted burglaries of locked vehicles were the suspect was captured on camera, and one report of an unlocked vehicle with the keys left in it that was stolen out of the victim’s driveway,” the department said.
Police departments nationwide have been pushing their 9 pm routine, which means going out and making sure you emptied tempting valuables from your vehicles, locked them and brought your key fobs indoors.
“Get into the #9PMRoutine EVERY NIGHT by ensuring that your KEYS or KEY FOB’S are removed, your valuables are removed or well hidden in your vehicle, and your vehicle is LOCKED,” the department said. “By participating in the 9 PM Routine, residents can help reduce the opportunity for vehicle burglaries and thefts.”
