Drunken Wilkes-Barre Man Called Police to Say He Wanted to Kill His Wife

WILKES-BARRE, PA – On Tuesday, a Wilkes-Barre man, Terrance Winstead, called police to advise officers that he wanted to shoot his wife. A short time later, he called 911 again and told dispatchers he had shot and killed her.

Police rushed to the scene and surrounded the home.

According to a statement by the department, “Wilkes-Barre Police responded to 106 Barney Street in reference to reports of a gunshot victim. The above suspect contacted 911 and threatened to shoot his wife. He then called 911 and advised that he had just shot her.”

Officers arrived and maintained a perimeter of the residence. It was determined that the report of a shooting was false and that the intended victim was unharmed.

The suspect, who was highly intoxicated was taken into custody without incident.
